This month we will be completing our theme of “Moving On.” In the short story “The Circuit,” a young migrant worker’s moving from place to place affects his ability to move on with his life. In his autobiographical account “Hard as Nails,” Russell Baker recalls his first experience in the world of work.

SOCIAL STUDIES
Looking back, students have been learning about interpreting archaeological and historical evidence. This month, students will learn how life was like for the hunter-gatherers and how life began to change as people no longer had to wander from place to place to find food. As we approach Catal Huyuk, students will learn that it is one of the largest Neolithic sites unearthed in the Middle East.

Sixth Grade News:
RELIGION
Genesis 3 – “The Fall of Man” – and the exploration of God’s plan of salvation conclude the chapter on The Mystery of God. The students will write a diamante poem showing the contrast between God and the Serpent, after they have discussed the differences between Adam and Jesus. The topic of good vs. evil will usher the class into the role of Mary in God’s divine plan, allowing the students to understand why she has a special place in Heaven and in the Church. During this month of the Holy Rosary, the students will also learn about the history of the Rosary and its significance in the lives of Catholics throughout the centuries.
