Our Parish Hall has been a mainstay of our parish since the inception of the church in 1950 and continues to play a vital role in the Saint Jerome Parish community. The Hall is conveniently located on the bottom level of the original church building and lends itself to use by many different ministries.
The Hospitality Ministry makes ample use of the kitchen and the dining area. Hot meals are served for vital parish community functions such as Soup Nights, held through Lent, funeral receptions and pasta dinners. Many different organizations also serve delicious doughnuts and coffee after Mass on Sundays. Hie serving of meals makes great gains in the parish community building effort, giving parishioners the chance to break bread with one another.
The Parish Hall also houses the stage, which has seen its fair share of school plays and parish presentations. Having the school children put on a performance always seems to bring everyone together.
Our Saint Jerome Yourth Ministry has taken up residency in the hall as well. Over the last several years the Youth Program has grown by leaps and bounds, meeting once a week to have Bible discussions, learn life lessons, and just have some good old fashioned fun.
With all of this use over the last 57 years the Parish Hall is over due for major renovation and refurbishment. In 2005 a construction management firm was engaged to conduct a study on the entire Parish Hall building. The purpose of the study was to find out if the building was structurally sound and worth the cost of renovation. After a comprehensive three-day evaluation the management firm came back with good and bad news. Their findings revealed that the building is as sturdy as a rock, but also needs major renovation. Below is a breakdown of everytiiing needing refurbishment in the Parish Hall.
