"The program called JustFaith is just what the name says: a program about Justice grounded in Faith. When I was invited to join, my first response was, "I don't think so! It is too demanding in time and commitment." But the time spent in the program was indeed worthwhile as we delved deeply into situations of poverty, injustice, and inequality as seen from a faith perspective. Focusing on Jesus' message to serve the poor, to give to the hungry and to visit the imprisoned, we went on "border crossings" to skid row, to a homeless/rehabilitation center, and to juvenile hall, learning "up close and personal" about persons in need c our love and care. We had two all-day workshops that focused our attention on how we can stand in solidarity with workers seeking just and living wages (as described in doctrines about Catholic Social Teaching) and how we can get more involved in Catholic services to the poor and underprivileged, including Catholic Relief Services and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Bonding with this group of parishioners was an exceptional experience, as we have promised each other to continue our support and encouragement as each one seeks the specific service to which he/she feels called. I strongly recommend JustFaith as a very spiritual connection with our sisters and brothers in need, who truly give more to us than we give to them!"
