The Sacrament of the Sick has traditionally been called The Last Rites. However, nowadays, the Sacrament is shared with anybody who is seriously ill, even through the sickness may not lead to death. So, if someone is having serious surgery, we invite them to ask for the Sacrament of the Sick.
