5th thru 8th Grades
Our older students will review previously learned words and phrases and will learn new ones. For the most part, I expect them to learn vocabulary on their own through memorization. Every few weeks, I will give a list of vocabulary, assign them to make flashcards and to use other memorization techniques and test them on the vocabulary. Our older students must understand that non-written assignments (i.e. studying and memorizing) must be completed and must be taken just as seriously as written assignments. 5th thru 8th grade Spanish classes will begin concentrate on Spanish verbs and conjugation. Our older students will learn to conjugate both regular and irregular verbs. Once they have learned to conjugate verbs, they will combine this knowledge with the vocabulary that they have learned and begin to speak and write in complete and correct Spanish sentences. Parents, please check my blog (

Primary Grades
Primary Grades (K-2)
Students in the primary grades will learn basic Spanish words and phrases. Each month will be dedicated to a specific category of vocabulary. For example, in September, we may learn calendar vocabulary (e.g. the seasons, the months and the days of the week). And, in October, we may learn classroom objects. We will also begin to learn prayers in Spanish. My goal is to get these beginning students to enjoy learning Spanish and to feel comfortable speaking and listening to Spanish. Parents, please check my blog(

3rd and 4th Grades
Our 3rd and 4th graders will continue to learn Spanish vocabulary and prayers in Spanish. However, their study will focus around the Spanish alphabet and phonics. We will spend a large amount of time on Spanish phonics so that the students learn proper pronunciation and spelling. Later in the year, the 3rd and 4th graders will study basic Spanish grammar (e.g. the 4 ways to say “the” and “a/an,” feminine and masculine words, noun-adjective agreement).
