Dear Parents,

OPEN HOUSE - Wednesday, February 3rd,  6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

     Come see what your children have been working on when you drop them off at school every morning.  They’re proud of their work – we know you’ll be proud too!  Visit the other classrooms and see what’s in store next year!    Children are encouraged to wear full dress uniform that evening.   We’re proud of the work that’s done here – now’s the time to show it off! Ask your friends, neighbors and family to join you.

VIRTUS TRAINING: Tomorrow, January 27, 2010 we are offering VIRTUS Training in the Religious Education Center at 6:30 PM.  All new teachers, aides, coaches, Eucharistic Ministers, lectors and sacristans who have not been VIRTUS trained will have an opportunity to receive training as mandated by the Los Angeles Archdiocese. Please register by calling Adrienne Toth at (310)645-8318.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR GOOD NEWS WITH US!  We’re always interested in hearing good things about our former students! News about their academic, sport, or other accomplishments are always welcome.  Please also tell us the graduation year from SJS.  We’ll make an effort to get the news out in the next blue bulletin…let’s celebrate the good news together! 

 
TRAFFIC REMINDERS:  Please do not get out of your vehicle when dropping off or picking up your students. This slows things down. Follow the directions of
the traffic controllers on duty. We ask that you be patient, drive slowly, and please have the students enter and exit the vehicle on the driver’s side only.

EXTENDED CARE PARENTS:  6pm is the latest you may leave your children.
$1.00 a minute is charged for anyone who arrives after 6pm.  That is due on that day and can be paid to Ms. Maldonado.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: February 4th/5thd to move tables into the new parish hall. Please contact the office if you can help.

DO YOU NEED SERVICE HOURS?  We’re in need of a few individuals who can deliver our Open House flyers to various businesses and preschools in our community.  Locations already identified.  Flyers need to be distributed THIS WEEK prior to open house (February 3).  For more information please contact Carol Cobbs at (310) 670-1678.
 
OPEN HOUSE REMINDER:  School Open House is Wednesday, February 3 from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M.  Come tour the renovated gymnasium and social hall.  Bring your family and friends – all are welcome!  Children who attend the open house in full school uniform will be allowed to wear free dress the next day (Thursday, February 4). 

MARDI GRAS TICKETS: Last chance to buy your tickets at the discounted rate of $25 per person is Friday, 1/29/10. After that all tickets will be $30 per person.
Send your request and checks made payable to St. Jerome SSO may be sent to the office.
 
MR. MARTINEZ UPDATE:  As many of you already know, Mr. Martinez, our custodian here at St. Jerome School for many, many years, had surgery on 1/18/10. He was allowed to come home from the hospital on Saturday. He will be home recovering for the next several weeks. It will be a struggle for he and his family financially. If you are in a position to donate money to help the Martinez Family, please send it to the office in an envelope marked “Mr. Martinez”. He will be most appreciative of any help you may offer.
