March 2, 2010
Dear Parents,
We are grateful to Mr. David Mallen who has been one of our excellent Jr. High teachers for the past eight years. He has worked very diligently with his students in order for them to be the best they can be and “Educating them to be World Leaders”. Mr. Mallen and his family are moving to Pennsylvania where his wife will take a position at Penn State. We will miss him and wish him the very best!
We are happy to welcome Mr. Kenneth Lockwood to our school and parish community. Mr. Lockwood will take over the eighth grade for Mr. Mallen, teaching Math and Science in the upper grades. We look forward to a smooth transition for Mr. Lockwood, as Mr. Mallen and Mr. Lockwood have been working together to make this transition as easy as possible.
May our God continue to guide both men as they assume new beginnings.

From the P.E. Teachers: We have been asked to remind students & parents that students should wear appropriate athletic style shoes that fit securely on your child’s feet on the days that they have P.E. Athletic tennis shoes are built to provide support to your foot and ankle during physical activity, and as a result they help reduce the risk of fractures and sprains while active. Please understand that the necessity of wearing proper shoes is 100% instruction and safety driven. Although Vans & Converse tennis shoes are appropriate for daily school wear, they do not provide the kind of support we feel is necessary for our P.E. program. Additionally, we have discovered that these types of shoes do not work well in our new gym. They do not have any traction on the bottom of the soles & we have seen students slipping & not able to perform basic P.E. tasks as well as they could. If possible, we would prefer that those types of shoes not be worn on P.E. days. We appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
Girls Varsity BB - The Lady Spartans ended their season with a trip to Staples Center in the 3rd Place good. Another great Spartan fan base cheered the girls on who played well but finished on the short end to Sacred Heart of Covina. To finish in the top 4 out of 150 schools is quite an achievement. Congrats to all.
Boys Varsity BB - Coach Will Sheffie reports: This weekend the Spartans Boys Varsity Basketball's Teams run for a CYO Championship came to an end. The Spartans lost in the first round to Notre Dame despite a great effort put forth by the Spartans. The Spartans finished second in conference play with a record of 7-1. Overall the Spartans finished with a total record of 17-6. The coaches wish of all of the 8th grade players best of luck and hope that they continue to play in high school. As for the 7th graders, we are looking forward to preparing for next season
