In-school Suspension
A student who receives an in-school suspension will be given his/her classroom work to complete at school. S/he will not be able to attend class, mingle with the other students at any time during those days, nor participate in any extra-curricular activities.
Suspension/Expulsion
The following excerpts, taken from the California Education Code, will be the criteria used at St. Jerome School, for suspension or expulsion:
1. Actions gravely harmful to the moral or spiritual welfare of other students 2. Habitual profanity or vulgarity 3. Assault, battery, or any threat of force or violence directed toward any school
personnel or student 4. Open, persistent defiance of the authority of a staff member 5. Continued, willful disobedience 6. Possession, use, or sale of narcotics or alcohol 7. Smoking or having tobacco 8. Stealing, cheating, lying. Consequences will be issued at the teacher's discretion. 9. Cutting, defacing, or injuring in any way property belonging to the school or another
student 10. Habitual truancy 11. Any student carrying a harmful weapon may be expelled. The principal, in
consultation with her supervisor, will make this decision. 12. Suspension will also be assigned to any student who does not follow the school
policy for hair.
The principal reserves the right to make decisions s/he feels are appropriate for the individual and for the school
