COMMUNICATION BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL
Appointments
Appointments with teachers may be arranged when requested. Parents wishing to meet with teachers should indicate this in the student’s Homework Notebook. A message may
also be left with the school secretary, or teachers may be reached by telephone between 3:00 - 3:30. Teachers will not be called to the phone during school hours and private numbers of teachers will not be released. To assure the full attention of the teacher toward his/her class we insist that parents refrain from making “drop-in” visits or come to classrooms while school is in session. Appointments should be made ahead of time for all conferences.
Appointments for consultation with the Principal regarding classroom matters may always be made, but only after the matter has been discussed with the classroom teacher.

Conflict resolutions:
If a situation arises in a classroom that is in conflict with a parent’s beliefs, the problem should first be discussed with the classroom teacher. If the problem cannot be settled at this level the matter should be taken to the principal. Efforts should be made to have complete and accurate facts so that misinformation is not passed on. If an agreeable solution cannot be reached between the teacher and the parent, a conference will be arranged with the principal and all involved parties. The pastor may also be included in this conference.

Family Envelope
The family envelope containing weekly announcements is sent home with the oldest child in the family each Tuesday and returned Wednesday. All pink forms should be carefully completed by a parent and returned on Wednesday morning with the Family Envelope. Families whose envelopes are missing on Tuesday morning are issued a new envelope at a cost of $1.00. A non-custodial parent who wishes to receive each week’s Family Envelope contents should make arrangements with the school office as to how s/he would like to receive the envelope. If by mail a supply of stamped, self-addressed envelopes should be sent to the office. All enclosures for the Family Envelope must be approved by the principal and received in the school office by 10:00 a.m. Monday morning (Friday, if Monday is a holiday).

Homework Notebook
The homework notebook is an excellent source of communication between parents and teachers and MUST BE SIGNED DAILY. Because it is signed daily,
both parent and teacher are able to inform each other on a daily basis if more communication is needed. Parents wishing to notify the teacher always have this
method available.

Report Card periods
Formal reporting of student achievement will be offered on a trimester basis. Dates may be found in the calendar section of this handbook.Report cards are sent home three times each year. Report cards are to be signed by parents and returned within the week to indicate that they have received and reviewed the report card.

Progress reports
(Grades 1 - 8) are sent home at the mid-point of each report card period. Progress reports are to be signed by parents and returned within the week to indicate that they have received and reviewed the progress report card. At Progress Report time parents of students experiencing difficulty should immediately schedule a conference with the teacher so that the deficiency may be remedied. The conference may be requested by writing a note in the student’s homework notebook.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent requested conferences are welcome at all times. Arrangements should always be made in advance so teachers may be prepared for the conferences. A formal parent teacher conference is scheduled for each student in October. It is the responsibility of separated/divorced parents to determine who will participate in this conference. In some instances the teacher may ask both parents to attend.
