STUDENT COUNCIL BOOK DRIVE: The Student Council has been sponsoring a book drive for Our Lady of Victory School in Compton and the drive ends this Wednesday! We are asking for donations of new or “lightly used” books for grade 1-8. Please have your children bring them to school tomorrow (Wednesday) so they can be presented to the Student Council from Our Lady of Victory on Thursday during a special luncheon. We are so blessed here at SJS with a beautiful library and classroom books, so please be generous as we look to present another Archdiocesan school with the gift of reading resources! Merry Christmas from the Student Council!!
SOUP NIGHT: The soup night Christmas Party will be on Wednesday, December 10th in the Parish Hall. We’ll be serving from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come on down. You’ll enjoy some real home cooking. Need service hours? Students should check with Sister Donna Anne. Adults call Joyce at (310) 649-5586
GOOD: Good work was received this week from IfeomaChukwura (K), Tenbit Daniel (5),Matthew McClune (3), Justin Hildreth (6) and, Helena Tewolde (6). Great job!
ACADEMIC DECATHALON: All those participating in the AcademicDecathlon will meet on Fridays from 3:30 to 5:30 in the parish hall. Good luck to all of you. Study hard! We are proud of your participation.
RECYCLED PAPER:We are in great need of paper that we can recycle. If you work in an office that has changed its letterhead or you use paper that is good on one side please keep the school in mind. Teachers use so much paper with the children that the pile is depleted quickly. Your help is appreciated.
BASKETBALL: All boys in grades 3 and 4 interested in C basketball, your first practice will be on Tuesday December 9 at 4:45 pm in the gym. Mr. Jeff Muir is the 4th grade boys’ coach and Mrs. Brandy Carey is the 3rd grade boys ‘coach. As for the C girls basketball, the search for a coach continues. Time is running out so if any of your moms or dads is interested, have them contact the school immediately.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:As we plan for the Christmas program I want to let you know that the basic outfit that the children will be wearing is black pants or skirts, and white shirts. Children may be asked to add to that out fit with an accessory complementary to the songs they will be singing. Some students may be asked to wear a special costume, depending on their part in the program. The Christmas program will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m.
